Featured Project Friday

This featured project is by a company called Inspired Woodworks out of Long Beach, California. They used our Kerfkore product to build this beautiful curved toppings bar/check-out counter and curved wall in a frozen yogurt shop. Jason Renz, Owner of Inspired Woodworks, says, “I love working with your [Kerfkore] stuff, it is awesome!”

Choose Kerfkore for doing fast and accurate radius work. Kerfkore is ideal for production environments where repetitive products are manufactured. Kerfkore is a revolutionary substrate material that allows horizontal or vertical grade laminates, metals, 2-ply and phenolic backed veneers to be laminated flat and then formed into virtually any shape without stress cracks, delamination or telegraphing. Kerfkore provides for smooth and symmetrical inside and outside radii up to 3 1/2″.

Kerfkore saves time and improves quality by laminating flat and sanding flat prior to bending. It is dimensionally stable and holds its shape when formed with a series of horizontal ribs. Because of Kerfkores unique construction, excess material can be used on other projects virtually eliminating scrap.
Kerfkore is a nominal 4′x8′ panel size and in 1/4″ 1/2″ and 3/4″ thickness. The core material includes particleboard, MDF, plywood or Class A substrates. The face paper is a black latex impregnated paper and is also available two-sided with an optional brown paper backer. Kerfkore was designed for architectural millwork, furniture, store fixtures, marine and motorcoach industries plus application as vast as one’s imagination.

We also offer a Kerfkore-Green product. Kerfkore-Green is a NAF (no added formaldehyde) product. The face is a latex impregnated paper and the core is made from 100% recovered and recycled fiber that was produced without adding formaldehyde so the entire product is free of any added formaldehyde. It can help contribute to USGBC’s LEED credit points for MR4.1, MR4.2 and EQ4.4. It may also contribute to MR5.1 and MR5.2 dependant upon project location. The Kerfkore-Green is produced from one of our most renewable resource, timber.

Featured Project Friday!

Today’s feature project is about our Foamkore product line. Ferguson Design out of Charlotte, NC was able to use our Foamkore product to help a customer with their trade show exhibit.

This is what one of our distirbutors, WurthWoodGroup, said about selling our product to Ferguson’s Designs:

“This is one of 2 trade show booths Ferguson Design here in Charlotte recently designed and fabricated using Foamkore.  We were able to save them $$$ on the completed unit by greatly reducing their fabrication time.  Also, they realize an even greater savings every time they ship this trade show booth to the show because it weighs less than the previous materials they were using.  They plan to design booths using Foamkore whenever possible.”

Need to reduce weight on your next project? Foamkore is the perfect solution to any interior lightweight application.

  • Foamkore provides up to an 80% weight reduction when compared to conventional panels of plywood, particle board, and MDF.
  • Rigid face materials provide the ability to use conventional methods of attachment.
  • The stable panel provides the ability to apply a variety of edging options including: edge insert, outer edge band, and conventional edge banding.
  • The balance panel allows for a variety of face materials to be added such as: veneer, laminates, paper, graphics, and other thin materials.
  • Foamkore panels are available in a nominal panel size of 4’x8’. Panels are available in thicknesses from 3/4” up to 3”. Optional custom sizes, thickness, and face options are available upon request.
  • Product applications include: shelving, partitions, ceiling panels, wall systems, signage, displays, theatre props, swing doors, elevators, kiosks, tabletops, furniture, cabinets, motor homes, and boats.

Featured Project Friday – Curved Doors

Need to learn how to make curved doors? With our Kerfkore product, it couldn’t be easier. Check out this beautiful wood table with a set of curved doors.

“Curved doors and panels add elegance to any project, especially  kitchen cabinets. Making these complicated parts requires careful planning and building. The task can be made much easier by using a flexible panel product called Kerfkore. It follows the same principle that cabinetmakers use when they saw multiple kerfs on the back of a piece of plywood to make it flexible. A disadvantage to this saw-kerfing method is the risk of the face veneer cracking or kinking at the kerfs, spoiling the curve’s smooth surface. Kerfkore’s advantage is that that the kerfing is done for you. Its flexible paper backing provides a smooth surface to attach your veneer.”
